Chris Colfer has admitted that he is “enjoying” the relationship between his character Kurt and Blaine (Darren Criss) on Glee.

The actor told E! Online that portraying a relationship on-screen has been a new experience and has allowed him to expand his range and delve into Kurt’s more complex side.

“It’s a trip being in a relationship on TV ‘cos I never ever thought that I would be part of an ‘it’ couple… It’s been a trip, I’m enjoying it,” Colfer explained. “It’s been a lot of fun. It’s been a whole new batch of emotions that I haven’t been able to deal with yet.”

Asked how he sees the pair’s relationship developing during Glee’s upcoming third season, Colfer said: “I want it to be as real as any other relationship on the show. They can have their ups and downs, but it’s not like there’s much to choose from. It’s not like they’re going to have an affair – there’s no-one else there!”

Colfer, who picked up a 2011 Emmy nomination for his work on Glee, also revealed that he and Criss get along famously off-screen, adding: “We’re good friends and we’re both huge nerds. We both love Harry Potter and anything Comic-Con-esque, so we have a lot to talk about.”

He was recently rumoured to be leaving Glee at the end of the next season along with castmates Lea Michele and Cory Monteith.

However, the reports were later corrected, with executive producer Brad Falchuck saying that although the actors’ characters will be graduating, they will still remain on the show.

Criss recently expressed his hope that Kurt and Blaine will remain together during Glee‘s next season.

Kristin Dos Santos from ‘E! News Online’ chatted with Chris Colfer about the possibility of a Juilliard-centric spinoff, after his character Kurt graduates off of Glee this season, and he said he’s on board with the concept. “Yes, I think it’d be a lot of fun,” Chris says of Glee 2.0. “I’m very much looking forward to hearing what happens with that. I love Kurt more than myself sometimes. I would love to be with him and see where he goes and see what happens to him in the future.”

Chris Colfer is planning on taking his gran to the Emmys as his date.

The Glee star, who bagged a Best Supporting Actor nomination in the comedy category for his role as Kurt Hummel, will walk the red carpet with his grandma in tow.

“I’m taking my grandma, she’s my date,” he told reporters at the Los Angeles premiere of Glee: The 3D Concert Movie.

But Chris admitted the show’s success has not helped to calm his fears about red carpet events.

“You never get used to it, I was anxious the very first time I stepped out onto a red carpet and people were screaming at you, and I’m just as anxious now,” he revealed.

The actor’s nomination is in a category dominated by Modern Family – he’s up against four of the show’s stars, as well as Two And A Half Men’s Jon Cryer.
